Hi everybody. For the next two weeks we will be using jump ropes. I love jumping rope because it is such a fun way to improve muscular and cardiovascular endurance. This unit allows the students to work independently to create a routine filled with different jump rope skills. At the end of the unit the students will be asked to complete their routine which consists of at least ten of the tricks that have been practicing.
Because this is a very independent skill, I will allow students to check jump ropes out so that they can practice at home. Please ask your student how their routine is coming along, and maybe they can show you how hard they have been working with this skill.

Weeks of 1/5-1/16: Health

Hello and welcome back to school everyone. These next two weeks we will be in the classroom. We will be talking about nutrition and choices we have with the food that we eat. We will be watching Super Size Me, a documentary about a man who chooses to eat nothing but McDonald's food for 30 days. This will show students what bad choices in nutrition can do to their bodies. We will discuss some of the choices they have everyday and how those choices can affect their lives.

Week of 9/29-10/3
This week we are starting a soccer unit. The goal of this unit is to build skill recognition. I don't care how good a kid is at soccer, I care that they are able to recognize the skills they need and what they should do if they would like to get better.

Week of 9/22-9/26
This year we have been using a portfolio to keep track of our progress throughout the year. One of the ways we will test our progression through the year is to use the Presidential Fitness Test. We will using our portfolios to log our times and scores and look back at them through the year see if we are progressing physically. Our first round of testing will begin the week of September 22, 2008.

Tenino Football
Hey everyone. The TMS Knight football team was victorious again last night defeating Rochester 28-6. It was the second win of a young season and it pushed our record to 2-0. We played pretty well but there is always room to get better and stronger. Our next game is Thursday, September 28 at Winlock.
I hope to see everybody out at Beaver Stadium Friday night to support the Beavers as they take on Kalama. It is going to be an outstanding game and I know that our boys will play their hearts out.
GO BEAVERS!!!
