Health

Hey everyone, I'm sorry that it has been so long since I have updated. We are back in the gym after two weeks of health. During health we discussed drugs, alcohol, and tobacco. Some of the things we did in health were:
  • Discuss why people decide to use drugs, alcohol, or tobacco
  • Discuss what these substances do to your body
  • How they can affect your life
We used a great program called Project ALERT which uses different assignments such as parent interviews, skits, and other types of worksheets. I believe that your students learned that not as many people are using drugs/tobacco/alcohol as they thought. I hope that this program will help them to make the right decisions when it comes to these issues.

Week of 9/29-10/3

This week we are starting a soccer unit. The goal of this unit is to build skill recognition. I don't care how good a kid is at soccer, I care that they are able to recognize the skills they need and what they should do if they would like to get better.
Some skills and games we will be playing this unit:
  • Dribbling, passing, shooting, tackling (stealing)
  • Soccer Baseball
  • Soccer Pirates
  • Mini-Soccer (4 on 4, 5 on 5)
  • Three Goal Soccer
  • Relays
These are a few of the things that we will cover this unit.

Week of 9/22-9/26

This year we have been using a portfolio to keep track of our progress throughout the year. One of the ways we will test our progression through the year is to use the Presidential Fitness Test. We will using our portfolios to log our times and scores and look back at them through the year see if we are progressing physically. Our first round of testing will begin the week of September 22, 2008.

Tenino Football

Hey everyone. The TMS Knight football team was victorious again last night defeating Rochester 28-6. It was the second win of a young season and it pushed our record to 2-0. We played pretty well but there is always room to get better and stronger. Our next game is Thursday, September 28 at Winlock.

I hope to see everybody out at Beaver Stadium Friday night to support the Beavers as they take on Kalama. It is going to be an outstanding game and I know that our boys will play their hearts out.

GO BEAVERS!!!

Welcome

Hello everyone. The first week and and a half has been great. I am excited to be back with the energy of all of you and your children. We have some exciting things planned for this year. We have a new PE teacher in the building, Mrs. Price and we are very excited about the energy and knowledge that she brings to the gym.
This year we are trying something new having the students using portfolios. We are doing this so that the students will be able to see the progress they make throughout the year. These also give me a chance to determine the class progression.
Again, I am very excited to be back this year and hopefully we can make your students want to be lifelong movers!
